Ogden, Utah, December 2000 – Joseph V. Knight of Layton has been appointed CEO of Setpoint Companies of Ogden, Utah which consists of two corporations, Setpoint Inc., which focuses on amusement park systems and rides; and Setpoint Systems, Inc., which specializes in industrial automation and lean manufacturing.

Inc. Magazine named Setpoint one of the fastest-growing companies in the United States in 1999.  The eight-year-old company experienced 627% growth over the last four years.

Joe Knight graduated Cum Laude in economics from Brigham Young University and obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley in 1989.  He was employed in finance at the world headquarters of Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan.  He has extensive experience in management consulting, corporate finance, project management and business lecturing.

He was finance manager at Bell and Howell and worked as a program manager at Arrow Dynamics where he was responsible for budgets, schedules on several multi-million dollar amusement park ride projects.

Mr. Knight serves as an associate professor at Westminster College in Salt Lake City and as an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix.

“The Setpoint companies achieved one of its major milestones when it recently divided into two separate companies,” Mr. Knight noted.  “Our goal is to proceed to achieve in the niches we have carved out in the roller coaster industry and in industrial automation and lean manufacturing while continuing to incubate additional companies as our projects mature.”
